(Thing 4)
In Thing 4, I created an account on Google Reader and subscribed to a RSS feed. The feed I choose was CETIS: Standards in Education Technology. I thought this was appropriate for the class that I am in and I am interested in keeping up to date with all the new technologies in education. As time moves on I may venture out to other feeds to keep in touch with new ideas for Math Education and other topics that interest me just for the fun of it.

Becoming a Digital Citizen (Thing 5)
I just finished watching a video entitled "The nine elements of digital citizenship. It was interesting to see that there was more in the video to do with safety and etiquette than only what you can do online. I believe that everyone who gets online whether it is for research or communicating with others should learn and understand the nine elements. Students, especially, should have a firm foundation on all nine elements so they can be productive and safe. Teachers should know the health and wellness aspects so they can put them into practice and inform students and others. Parents should know about the digital rights and responsibility so that they can follow the laws of the web. They can also pass on this value to their children.

Creating this blog reminded me about the time I created my facebook. I had no idea what I was doing and became very frustrating to me. Right now, as I continue to explore the world of blogging, I am enjoying it. I feel I will use this when I head to Honduras for spring break, my Europe backpacking tip in May, and to post thoughts about camp over the summer.
